Part 1
All that runs has to stop. You might have good stability, handling, comfort and power but when it comes the time to stop, you would like to be able to do that as better as possible. So stay tuned on the brake system because the focus should be redoubled with the Preventive Maintenance. It is composed of cables and cylinders, but the most important parts that are working effectively in the braking of the car are disks, pads and drum. These components act directly on the wheel of the car and make the car stop when you step on the pedal.
Part 2
- In general, discs and pads are located on the front, and are responsible for about 70 to 80% of the brake efficiency of a car. This set has better performance, as it dissipates more the heat and water, in addition to simpler maintenance.
- The drum set / canvas is housed in the rear wheel. The periodic review is recommended for every 5,000 km. But before that, depending on the use of the vehicle, the system may present some problem. The problems are: vibration and change of course when stopping, hand brake course too long, the pedal height (low and high) and constant noises when you step on the brake. Another component to be evaluated is the brake fluid.
Part 3
- As it absorbs moisture from the environment, its lifetime is about one year or 10,000 km. With time, the fluid has already a significant portion of water, reducing its efficiency in powering the brakes. The lack of fluid can cause the complete loss of brakes. The wear of the brake system and lack of preventive maintenance are some serious security problems. The least that can happen is the car need more space to stop or even, in extreme cases, do not brake in time when it is needed more.
