5 Hot 2012 Models Coming Your Way!

You may be shopping for a new car right now, enjoying the 2010 models and whichever 2011 cars have already hit the market. Among the newest cars out there are the Ford Fiesta, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Hyundai Sonata.

As important as these cars are for their respective segments, there are five 2012 models headed your way, passenger vehicles which will begin to hit the market in early 2011. Yes, go ahead and shop for a new car, but keep in mind what is coming down the pike too. You just may want to wait a year to get one of several hot 2012 model year cars.

Alfa Romeo Guilietta -- Alfa Romeo is back thanks to parent Fiat's acquisition of Chrysler. The Fiat 500, an exciting 2011 model will arrive first, but the Alfa brand will be back soon thereafter, selling the Giulietta through Chrysler dealerships beginning early 2012. This premium compact features a 1.4L I4 turbo-charged engine with a strut front suspension and multi-link rear. Powered by its front wheels, the Guilietta will blend performance, comfort and top notch fuel economy.

Cadillac ATS -- Finally, an all new baby Cadillac hits the market in the form of the ATS. Like the larger CTS, this car will be powered by its rear wheels and be offered in sedan, coupe and, if we're lucky, cabriolet body styles. The Cimarron and Catera, earlier unsuccessful Cadillac forays into the compact car market, will likely be forgotten when the ATS hits. Powered by turbocharged 14 engine, this Caddy will take on the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C Class and Lexus IS. Expect a late 2011 arrival for the all new Caddy.

Ford C-Max -- How can a crossover possibly be exciting? Well, when it features an EcoBoost four cylinder engine, dual-clutch transmission and three rows of seats, the Ford C-Max shouldn't have much difficulty turning heading. And if that isn't enough, the Focus platform based model, itself updated for 2012, should compare favorably with the Mazda5, the segment's darling model.

Buick Regal GS -- Remember the Buick Grand National? That late 1980s era car was the sporting version of the Buick Regal, a model that single-handedly raised the visibility of the Buick brand. When GM discontinued the Grand National, the Buick brand declined, which means that mostly everyone equates Buicks with old people. The Regal GS is designed to change all that, offering a high output turbocharged 2.0L I4 with 20 inch wheels, body kit and bigger brakes, attributes which should help Buick show its performance side once again.

Tesla Model S -- The second model in the Tesla line up is the S model, a four-door electric sedan that will bring Tesla Roadster goodness to the masses. Well, not exactly. Unlike the Roadster which is underpinned by a Lotus platform, this all new five to seven passenger sedan should offer a 300 mile range with an optional battery pack and zip the car from zero to sixty in 5.6 seconds. Arriving in late 2011, Tesla promises to hold the price under K after government rebates.

Each of the models rolling out for the 2012 model year breaks new ground or at least takes a common theme and finds a way to enhance it. If these cars aren't worth your wait, then buy now. Otherwise, hold on for 2013 because more all new models featuring advanced engineering, cutting-edge technology and out of this world design will most certainly follow.
